Thanks for the clarification - but here is the part that has me puzzled.
"...However, I did not put the intended recipient's mail address in that
created template. I assumed that if I wanted others to get the same message
that I could just include them in the distribution list as the situation
arose."
When you use a template to reply to a message, the address should
automatically go on the reply when the rule fires.
Do you see anything in your sent items folder? What about the error message
you posted in your first question - "Reply to Error:Cannot Send reply."

After furious head scratching, pubscout asked:
| Hi Milly, sorry for the assumption that everyone knew what I was
| talking about. I'm using Outlook 2007 on one machine. The rule is
| constructed to Check message as it arrives, for specific people on my
| email address book, to be sent to a specific folder in my inbox and
| to be replied to with a specified template.
|
| Up until this morning, I thought that template had to be created in
| Word 2007, and it got frustrating when I couldn't locate the file
| knowing it was in my Docs folder. But I found out that the template
| had to be created from a new mail message and saved as a template
| (.oft) file. I did so, creating a subject and a message in the
| e-mail. Then it showed up when I clicked reply with a specific
| template. I clicked on it in the dialog box and set the rule to run.
| However, I did not put the intended recipient's mail address in that
| created template. I assumed that if I wanted others to get the same
| message that I could just include them in the distribution list as
| the situation arose.
|
| Now, the message is sent to my specified folder fine, but no reply is
| sent and I can't figure out why.
|
| Does that give you enough information?

|| You may be almost home but we have no idea what route you took!
||
|| How is the rule constructed? What version of Outlook? What is the
|| "appropriate folder" that is generating the error? Is this on your
|| machine? Is this in an Exchange installation? Is it a Public
|| Folder? Is the PF mail enabled? What permissions do you have on
|| that folder?

|| Details, details, details!

||
||| I have had some success with Rules regarding auto-reply. i
||| discovered that the template you must use has to be created in
||| Outlook itself from an e-mail message, as Word Templates don't
||| work. So I created the .oft file I want to use and found it when I
||| clicked on specified template.
|||
||| However, while the Rule I created sends the targeted email message
||| to the appropriate folder, I get a message that says "Reply to
||| Error:Cannot Send reply."
|||
||| Sending the reply is most important, so what am I doing wrong or not
||| doing that I should be? Do I have to put the recipients' addresses
||| in the template I create?
|||
||| Thanks for your patience....almost home.
