I have a website created with Publisher 2000 and may want to make some
confidenticial pdf files available to select folks. But, I realize anybody
visiting the site will have access to the files.

Here's my question. Is 128 bit encryption pretty safe?

(I'll be using PDF-XChange the clone Adobe pdf file creator).

The question is directed to the 128 bit encryption and not to PDF-XChange.

No national secrets or plans to build "gadgets" of the Los Alamos type. <G>
Just things like lodge member directory containing addresses, phone numbers,
e-mail address etc.

I have a password protected sub-web for my .pdf files for the same reasons
you mentioned.

Don,

If you are still using Pacifier to host your site, I remember they at least
used to have public ftp sites, so they probably can provide password
protected folders.

All I know is that my web server guy had to set it up and then set a
password to it. This was all done in FP tho. Better check with David B for
better info for Publisher.

Yep I'm on Pacifier and just checked. They do have "password protected
websites". I'll be reading their support pages on how to get it going. I'm
hopping for a password protected webpage off of the website.
