Alpha Numbering

I need to have outline as follows:
A
A.1
A.2
B
B.1
B.2

etc.

I can I get Word to do this.

Hi Larry,

You can do this with Word's Heading styles. Simply customise Heading Level
1's numbering scheme to suit.

If you need the A, B, C and A.1, A.2, etc., numbering at the same level,
then this will be very difficult. If, however, you want something like this:

A Heading 1
A.1 Heading 2
A.2 Heading 2
B Heading 1
B.1 Heading 2
B.2 Heading 2

(or the same thing with List Number and List Number 2 styles), then see
