i have a list of company names that are NOT in

to company name?

Select the list and use Table | Sort (they don't have to be in a table).

Hi, Deke,

If each name is in a separate paragraph (that is, with a ¶ symbol at the end
when you view nonprinting symbols), then just use the Table > Sort command.
The text doesn't have to be in a table to use this command.

I think his 'Auto' means he wants Word to do the sorting automatically: add
a new name to the list and zip! resort. In which case the answer is, yes,
theoretically possible (trap the Window.SelectionChange event, inspect the
list, resort if necessary) but no, not worth doing.
