alphabetize address book merge

F

Fran

I think this has been asked before, but the responses didn't help. How can I get my last name field sorted alphabetically after the merge? They are alphabetical in my data source, but not after they come across. Why is that

I've tried to put info in a table and use the table>sort, but this doesn't work

Can someone please help this newbie?

Which version of Word?

What is the data source?

If it is Access (or an "Office Address List", which is also an Access
database) then it may look as if you have sorted the records in Access or
Word, but in fact Access (like most other database packages) does not
guarantee that you get the records from a table in any particular sequence.
You have to specify a sequence to guarantee it. In Access, probably the
simplest way to do this is to create a Query that specifies the sequence you
want, then use the Query as the data source for your merge.
