Sometimes Desktop Alerts are delayed, not sure why. When they're delayed, I
sometimes read the email message, but later get a Desktop Alert and a tray
envelope icon indicating new email, even though the message is already read.
If a message is already marked as read, it should not trigger the envelope
or the Desktop Alert.
