alt +e dwopdown menu

Jim

I used to be able to use the keyboard to get to and edit
my Excel files. For example, I could press Alt and the e
key, which would automatically give me the dropdown menu
under the Edit tab. Then I could immediately press c if
I wanted to copy, p if I wanted to paste, t if I wanted
to cut, etc. Now, however, when I press Alt and the e
key, the Edit tab is highlighted but the dropdown menu
does not automatically appear. Instead, I have to press
Enter before I can get the dropdown menu. Why has this
changed, and what can I do to get it back to the way it
was? I upgraded to Office XP Pro fro Office 2000, and
thus the change.

I know there are many who have asked the same question,
so this seems important enough to users to resolve the
problem and to include a "fix" in a future update.

Thanks.

Jim

When you did the upgrade you would have had to re-establish the shortkey
key.
I personally, almost never use shortcut keys. Hard to remember for one.

Why not just use the shortcut keys themselves?

Ctrl + C/Ctrl + V/Ctrl + X

Anyhow I have Office XP -- upgraded from 97 -- and the alt E brings the menu
up --- never did anything to enable or disable it

Hi Jim

You can try this first

You can reset your menubar to default
Right click on the menubar and choose customize

Under Toolbars select the worksheet menubar
and click on reset on the right

Post back if this not help

I'm betting you added another control to one of your toolbars that also has E as
an accelerator key. Hit alt-e a few times and see if you can watch it move to
something else. (might take a few times if your eyes are as old as mine!)
