alternate row colors

I am using Access 2000 and I want to alternate row colors in a form or table.
I know very little about using Access. I tried copying the code from

but I could not get it to work. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Confine your interest to Forms; you have very little control over how a
Table is displayed, unless you display it in a Form.

Thanks for the advice. Can people enter data into a form? Any idea how I
will alternate the colors in a form?
