I¹ve been looking for a good way to shrink the size of my Database, and it
seemed the smartest approach for me would be setting up an identity to use
as an archive. The notion was to duplicate my current identity and delete
from it all recent emails beginning with 1/1/2007. Then I would re-open my
current (original) identity and delete all emails prior to 2007.
I really liked this idea, and then cruel reality and devious database
integrity checks intervened.
When I duplicate (in the finder) my current identity, Entourage wouldn¹t
open it. I had to let the Database Utility rebuild it.
I let that happen and went to bed.
In the morning, I saw an error message that something had gone wrong during
the rebuild.
Quite honestly, I forget what I did after that, but I did think that I had
only one usable database and didn¹t pay much attention to which one was
being used.
Today I decided to delete the extraneous database, only to find out that I
had been using it all this time instead of my original.
After that it¹s all a blur. Suffice it to say that I continued to be
confused about which of the two I was using and sent emails from both.
I think I know the sad answer to this question, but is there any way to
reconcile the two of them (synchronize)?
Best,
Bill
