Am I in the right place?

I want to automate some tasks in Word. Specifically, I have about 10
sentences that I use frequently while in this application. I'd like to be
able to enter them very quickly, i.e. with just a keystroke or two. I know
how to use the autocorrect & autotext functions, but it seems like full
sentences may be stretching the capabilities. So I'm wondering if I should
design macros - which I have no clue how to do.

Please advise?

Also, if macros are the best, can you point me to a
step-by-step-for-an-ignoramus?

AFAIK you could include the text of War and Peace in an AutoText entry so a
sentence or two won't hurt.

and the meaning of AFAIK.

You could probably include it in an autocorrect entry also - so make that
