Am I right in saying you can't do multiple table queries in sub-forms?

I want to grab data from a combination of 2 tables and put the result in an
Access subform, but it doesn't seem to like it.

I'm using Access VBA, but even the wizard doesn't seem to like it.

Am I right in saying this can't be done?

you could create the query and then base the subform on it, but the
subform very likely would not be updateable.
