Am I Stupid for Buying Groove?

B

Bill

Not only did I buy Groove, I had a co-worker buy Groove too! Here’s your
sign!!

Oh well, live and learn. We set up the shared workspaces and are unable to
"Save As" to the folders in the work space. Yes, you can save to a local
folder then drag and drop. I'm sorry but that's just plain stupid and a
waste of time. How could MS let this product fly.

If I'm missing something or am ignorant about the app please forgive my
comments. If anyone can enlighten me I would sincerely appreciate it.
Sorry, I'm just plain mad for wasting my money and then 8 plus hours trying
to figure the %8$#*&# program out.

Hi Bill,

When Microsoft took over Groove Networks, development of Office 2007 was
already too far ahead for full integration with other MS products.

There is a way to bypass the saving of a file to a local folder. For
this you need to create the Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ... document
directly from within your Groove workspace.
When in the Groove files tool, select menu option "File / New" and
select the type of document to create.

Another solution will be GrooveIT! for MyDocs, a user friendly solution
that we are currently developping. The Beta release will ship soon.
You may want to register for participating in the Beta program.

Hope this is useful information :)

Bill -
I have been a Groove user since its beta days (~Spring 2001) - it has its
problems and issues but it has matured well and there's more to come!
The Redmond Magazine (an Independent IT magazine) has commended Groove as an
Editor's Choice -

Learn more about Groove and it'll pay off well.

Hello Bill,
I am sorry to hear of your frustration with Groove.
Jan's response was the correct one. If you wish to have a file saved to one
of your Groove workspaces automatically when saving it, you will need to
create the file (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,ect..) in the Groove workspace first
and then save it. After you save the file in it's native program, you wil
receive a second prompt to save that file in to the Groove workspace also.
By chosing yes at this prompt, it's basically the same as chosing a 'Save-As'
option and saving it to Groove.

I hope this helps.
