Are you trying to write a macro or record one?

OK...
I tried to delete a global template (Normal.dot).
I got an error like the folling...
===========
Cannot delete Normal: It is being used by another person
or program. Close any program that might be using the
file and try again.
===========
Of course, I rebooted my computer. But It's still showing
the same error message when I tried to write a macro...

This has begun after I 1) tampered with my registry; 2) deleted files and
otherwise did bad things to my system.

1) I have uninstalled and reinstalled all office programs. excel had allowed
create and run macros, but now does not; 2) i have uninstalled and
reinstalled each office product individually to isolate the macro
problem..3) I have discovered that even after a complete uninstall/reboot
and reinstall, my file locations remain as they were.. whicih tells me these
are not really reinstalling.

all else in excel and word work just fine. but I can't create macros. I
have deleted normal.dot from every directory and the recycle bin and
recreated it. some of my custom settings to normal.dot remain after I think
I have deleted it.

Help, please!!

I solved my problem....
I found out that the process is still running somewhere
else. You gotta remove all Normal.dot manually through
the file search. Probably, there might exists a global
template including a temporary one (i.e. ~Normal.dot )

After that, you should create a macro...

Hopefully it helps...
