I understand that OneNote mobile is available for the smartphone but not yet
for the Pocket PC phone edition. Well I think I've found a way of getting
OneNote type functionality on my Pocket PC phone edition. In saying what I
say below, I want to malke it clear I have no affiliation at all with the
software I talk about.
i just offer it here as an interim solution and if it gives you ideas, then
great.
I have found that TextMaker 2002 Word Processor for the Pocket PC gives me a
fantastic rich, freeform content vehicle for all my information. This means I
can create rich, flexible content on my PPC, sync over the files to my
Desktop, open them in MS Word and cut/paste the content into my desktop
OneNote system.
This is awesome!
What I've found I can do with TextMaker 2002:-
Enter text
Format text (bold, italics, colours, highlight etc etc)
Insert pictures taken by the on-board camera and move them by drag and drop
(note you have to insert the picture as a picture frame rather than as a
straight picture to be able to move them around on the page)
Insert lines and specify thickness and colour
Edit the line's length and angle
Insert shapes such as rectangles, circles, ellipses and have coloured fills
Insert tables
Do calculations
Change page background colour
Insert hyperlinks to URL's
Create a link to an audio file (I' was told by TextMaker Support that to do
this, I needed to type the text "file://" before the link and it gets opened
by the default handler (or the default web browser, which then opens the
default handler)
There is a search facility included in the programme to search for key words
There's lots of other stuff it can proably do that I haven't yet got to
grips with.
What it can't do (yet):-
Insert scribble (handwriting)
Insert arrows
Insert a voice note directly
However, I can achieve the first two iof these tems by creating handwriting
or a shape e.g. an arrow in a drawing programme like Vectorsoft Draw, saving
them as bitmaps and inserting the bitmaps into my TextMaker page.
I've not come across any PPC software that gives me this type of OneNote
functionality on the PPC.
Of course, when OneNote Mobile hits, I'll be the amongst the first to get it
for the Pocket PC phone edition. Well I think I've found a way of getting
