Analysis Services

Richard

Hello,

We have MS Project Server 2007 and SQL 2005. (2 servers)

We were unable to use data analysis from the web, so we ran through the
Technet notes: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197552.aspx

We incorrectly created a Analysis Services respository on the Project Server
system. (It has SQLExpress) The database has a different name, but since that
point cubes can not be built. The error that we receive when building the
cubes is:
[8/22/2008 5:37 PM] Failed to build the OLAP cubes. Error: Analysis Services
session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis
Services server BR-1. Error: Cannot connect to the repository.

Analysis server: BR-1

Error:
Login failed for user 'wssadmin'.

The DSO respositoryConnection Strings appear to be pointing to the correct
server.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you move the repository to SQL?

Check the user wssadmin is a dbo of the repository db.

Hi Paul,

The repository was actually already in SQL. The issue that we had was that
we could not access the data analysis reports from PWA. We incorrectly setup
another repository on the server that SharePoint resides on.

Yes, wssadmin is a db owner.

Thanks for your help.
Richard

Paul,

Yes, and the cube building did work until we incorrectly created an Analysis
Services repository on the Project Server system. (It has SQLExpress) The
database has a different name, but since that point cubes cannot be built.

Do you know if it is safe to remove both of these repositories and rebuild
the correct one?

Thanks,
Richard
