I have looked in the view|toolbars menu, but am not finding the Analysis
Toolbar in my Project 2003. Is this a special add in?

Thanks Dale

After trying your suggestions, I ended up using the "detect and repair"
command in the help menu and that finally did the trick.

I am trying to figure out how the analysis toolbar wizard is spreading the
work hours over several days. In some cases it appears as if it is spreading
the hours evenly over several days. In a few cases the hours were front
loaded:an example is a task with 8 wk hours for a duration of 2 days: day 1
has 7 hours and day 2 has 1 hour. In some cases the hours appear to be end
loaded: day 1 has 1 hour and day 2 has 7 hours. In some cases it was evenly
distributed.

P.S. I also could not figure out how to start a discussion group so I had
to reply to one that was similiar

El,
Which item in the Analysis toolbar are you trying to use (there are
several wizards)?

There are various reasons why the spread of timescaled data may not be
linear. The data may have been manually entered, thus creating a custom
contour. The data may be contoured using one of Project's built-in
contour profiles. The resource calendar may be such that the hours are
tracking the working time of the resource and not the task.

We need to understand what you are trying to do before we can be of any
more help.

As far as posting a new message, any interface applications for
newsgroups will have a menu item for posting new messages. For example,
I use MT-NewsWatcher and under the News menu is a sub item for "New
Posting".

John,
I am trying to see the baseline work hours spread over several weeks so I
can do a compare to the actual work hours. I am using the Analyze Timescaled
Data in Excel. Is there any way to determine the rules the wizard uses to
spread the work hours. Also is there a way to roll the hours up to a higher
task for reporting purposes. I tried selecting just the higher level task
but this does not work.

El,
All you need to do to see the Baseline Work is to select that field for
export. The values ARE summarized whether at the task level or resource
level, depending on which view the utility is run against.

The "rules" used for the export are simply the values you see in either
Usage view, that is, the timesphase values.

I already explained how the data could be skewed. What more do you need
to know?
