Anchoring text below the mail merge

I'm in the midst of losing my mail merge virginity, and it
isn't pretty.

I'm trying to accomplish two things. Mail merging name,
address and salutation into a text document, that in turn
is being printed onto some pre-printed stationary where
positioning is fairly critical.

OK, I can get from A to B to C without too much
difficulty, the problem I can't seem to resolve is that
some of the addresses are three lines long, some are four
and others are five. Thus, the registration of the text
below moves in an unacceptable manner.

I'm fiddling with text boxes and frames but cannot
absolutely, positively fix the position of the body text
and get the variable spacing between the salutation line
and the non-movable body of the text.

Suggestions/comments/flames welcomed.

Put the address mergefields inside a borderless table with fixed cell
dimensions large enough to accommodate the five line address.
