Animated GIFs with Visio 2000 or 2003?

B

Brian

I'm doing a lot of workflow documentation in Visio 2000 and 2003 (upgrading to 2003) and it'd be nice for the web published pages to have animated GIF arrows or something that reflects the direction of the workflow outside of the normal pointers on the lines. Does anyone know if it is possible to place an animated GIF within a workflow visio document and then have it actually work. I tried doing it with one of my documents but it only sees the GIF as a static image.

I'd image that if that isn't possible I could bring the exported pages over into another web dev app and insert it there... but it's just not as elegant of a solution.

Thanks,

Brian Garrett

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately, when Visio exports your drawing to a web page, it takes a
static snapshot of each page and uses that for its display. Animated gifs &
ActiveX controls will just be a part of these static images.

I will add it to a feature wish list. Thanks.

O.k. - no problem. Maybe a "feature" to be included in future versions of
Visio? I'd love to see that ability and also the ability to animate the
workflow arrows.

I could not import animated GIFs to visio, they would only exist as a static picture. Therefore I created my own animated shapes. Visio cannot make a "finding Nemo" level of animation , yet it can still provide a comfortable solution if you have the time. animated arrows would be very easy to do Brian
