Is there a way to add an animated picture/clip art into a word document or
excel document??

I've tried but they won't animate!

Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible??

Not possible. You might well be doing something wrong also, but that's not
relevant here.

Word doesn't support animations unless you save the document as a Web page
and view it in a browser.

Hi Jim,

If you have a 'flash' animation or an AVI recorded video of an animated graphic those can be made to play in Word but Animated GIFs
require parts of a browser that Word doesn't, for security reasons, filter into the Word interface, so they don't play within the
document.

The closest Word came to 'animation' was the Office Assistant and within a document 'animated text effects' (i.e. marching ants and
the like) in Format=>Font. Even those have been packed away for the 2007 version.
