Animating Content Placeholders in PowerPoint

I am using PowerPoint 2003. I created a slide using the layout of
Text/Content. For the Content placeholder, I click on it and then use Paste
to insert a screen capture that I have on the Clipboard. I then use the
Custom Animation task pane to set the sequence number and animation style for
the screen capture.

However, when I play back the animation sequence for the slide or run the
Slide Show, the content box appears as soon as the slide comes on and it
never performs its animation. Does anyone have any ideas on this at all?
