Animation Path

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC My computer and my students have the same computer system--etc. When I do Custom Animation, I have Path Animation on mine, but some of the students do not have that option. Where or what do I change to get the Animation Path on all computers. And yes I do have entrance, emphasize, exit, and PATH ANIMATION on my Mac Microsoft 2008.

Assuming they do have Office 2008 the lack of Path Animation indicates that
they are way behind on their updates.

Bob is correct. The animation path feature is included within one of the
Office updates. Have your students use Help > Check for Updates while
their computers are connected to the internet. This launches the
AutoUpdate feature. Once AutoUpdate launches, they should quit all open
Office applications before trying to apply the updates.

Jim,

I followed your suggestion to check the updates. After downloading the latest version, I followed the step to install. But it kept complaining this:

"You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

The only option for the destination was "Macintosh HD". I can never install the latest version. What should I do?

Thanks!

It seems to me that you may have moved or renamed either the Microsoft
Office 2008 folder, or any of its contents. What the installer is
telling you is that it looked for items that it needs to update, and it
could not find them in the locations in which it expected to find them.

If you have altered the default setup, you can simply drag the items
back to their original location and rename them to their original names.
Then restart your computer and use Help > Check for Updates.

If you think you may have scattered Office about your hard drive and
don't remember exactly what you did, use Spotlight to find the Remove
Office application. Run the Remove Office application, and then
reinstall Office from the DVD. You will be prompted to install updates
as soon as the installer is finished, so you should keep installing
updates until there are no additional updates.
