animations after returning to first slide

I've created an educational presentation of about 10 slides each containing
animations (generally text boxes with entrance effects) An action button on
the last slide invites the viewer to return to the first slide and work
through the slides again. But the animations have 'already' happened - all
the text boxes are already on screen. Is there a way to avoid this other
than by 'ending the show' and re-opening?

Try inserting a blank slide immediately prior to the one with the animations.
Set it to automatically transition to the next slide and set its transition
time to 0.

Have the action button take the viewer to this "dummy" slide instead of the one
following. That should reset the animations and since the slide's transition
time is 0, it should look as though the next slide just appears.

Thanks,

that works for slide number 1, and indeed for the subsequent slides if I
simply click anywhere with the mouse to advance. But if I advance to
subsequent slides by clicking on an action button set to 'next slide' then
the problem recurs - all the elements appear on the slide straight away,
without animation.

Each would need a "trick" dummy slide ahead of it in order to reset the
animations, I suspect. PPT really needs a better way of handling this, no
question.

Thanks - I'll try that approach
