Microsoft has released English and Japanese versions of an update for Office
2000. Installing this update will allow Office 2000 users to install 'full
file' patches for that release without inserting the CD. There may still be
a few cases in which the source is needed, but testing shows that it handles
the majority of the scenarios.
To take advantage of this feature, the system will need to be at the Office
2000 SR1 level, and Windows Installer 2.0 must be installed.
The details are covered in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;835220 which
provides links to the downloads.
