ANN: Torn Paper Effect tutorial

Great.
But the Set Transparent Colour on the Picture toolbar is greyed-out with
Freeform shapes - and when the shape and picture are pasted special also.

Thanks for pointing it out! For PowerPoint 2000 and below, you will can only
paste as jpg for the set transparent color to work.

Great that works.

Is there a way that one can easily make the two parts of a tear fit togther?
Let me explain better.
Imagine tearing a photo in half. Then showing the two torn halves with a
gap between them So the tear template needs to be mirrored/ made negative..

Yes, but slightly harder.
Here's a sample I have uploaded on experimental lab:

How it works:
Draw a "tear" line instead of a tear edge autoshape.
Make another copy of the image.
Select the line, right click on the ends of the line, click Add Point.
Now, move the end and you should be able to join up the autoshape.
Once you are done, right click and select Close Path.
Do this to the 2nd image.
Follow the original tutorial from here onwards and you should get the result.
