Annotating Charts

R

RickGreg

I have created a column chart in that I update periodically with new data. I
have annotated the chart using the text and arrow tools from the Drawing
toolbar...

When I zoom the chart (say, to 150%) and add annotations and then return to
100%, or print the chart, the arrows and text have shifted relative to the
chart. For example, the arrow, which appears to be pointing at the data
point for "May" at 150% will now be pointing at "July" at 100%.

Is this normal behavior, or might something fishy be going on? Any thoughts
on fixes?

Thanks.

Hi Rick -

The first thing I noticed - if your post is accurate you're an update
behind. Excel should be at 11.5.3, so that's the first thing I'd suggest you
do. Repair disk permissions afterward & see if the behavior continues.

I'm not experiencing the problem here on a 4 gig Intel MBP, 11.5.3 on 10.5.6
so I'm not sure what to suggest. Can you furnish any more details? For
example, is the chart on a separate chart sheet or an embedded object
floating on a worksheet? Are the drawn lines & boxes contained within the
chart area or do they overhang in some way? Have you tried using Callouts
rather than Text Boxes & Lines? What type of Mac & How much RAM? Any other
abnormalities you may have noticed?

Bob-

I updated Office and that seems to have corrected the problem. Will post
back with more detail if behavior returns. Don't know how I missed the Dec
update...

Thanks!
