annoying envelope that flashes in theEntourage dock when a new item arrives

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange Hi all,
  I work hard to minimize distractions in my work environment, and there's a little picture of an envelope that appear on top of the Entourage "E" in the applications dock on my Mac desktop. I don't WANT to see this-- I want to know there's new email when I want to know. I've played around with the preferences but cannot find a way to DISABLE this functionality.

Anybody have any ideas?

You cannot turn this feature off. I suggest you quit Entourage when you
don't want Entourage to display the icon. Or you can hide your Dock.

Hmmm, for some reason I thought the icon came on even when Entourage was off... but maybe I'm just hallucinating. I'll try it your way-- thanks!

I hid my dock but still notice the envelope icon when switching applications
using the dock and especially the command+tab keys. This would be a great
feature in the future, in preferences, to turn that envelope icon off.
