Annoying Office Clipboard

C

Craig Williams

After doing several Copy and Paste operations, this annoying Office
Clipboard window pops up on the right hand side of my display. I'm trying
to find a way to kill it, just as I killed the cute little Office Helper
that MS thought I needed. I see that I can turn it off from the Edit
options, but it comes back (after the next reboot, as near as I can tell).

This is my work PC, which means the IS staff has it "locked down" (i.e., I'm
very limited in making any changes to the setup or the registry). Our IS
staff doesn't know how to get rid of the Clipboard, either.

Suggestions? Even if I can't do it here, I can fix my home PC.

Have you looked in Help (search with <office clipboard>) to see how to
change the options?

Yes, but the options are only changed for the current session. Next time I
use my PC, the option - "Show Office Clipboard Automatically" - is back
again. I turn it off, but it always comes back.

Hi Craig,

As you mentioned, in your work environment
they may have setup the product to 'reset'
to a fixed set of parameters and features
each time its started.

The change to set the clipboard options must
be able to write to the registry. Your user
profile may not have those privileges.

On your home PC if you're logged in as Administrator
you should be able to set the Clipboard properties
to 'stick' by using the [Options] button in the
Clipboard Taskpane (Office 2003 - varies in earlier
versions).
