annoying symbols

When i am producing a piece in publisher I end up with a symbol after each
line. One looks like a backwards P. With a double line the other is like a
sunburst. how do I remove these from my work?

go to "view".
de-select "view special characters" or try CTRL + SHIFT + Y

In addition to the other's very valid comments, it appears that you are
pressing Enter at the end of each line instead of allowing Publisher to
format the text. Just keep on typing...
