Another "Could not open" error

Todd

I have hundreds of Word documents created on an older mac in Office 98. When
I open these documents, a message comes up "Could not open . . ." where the
rest of the message is computername:pathname:templatename (with colons
inbetween directory names). This does not happen with documents not created
on that computer. The User Templates setting is set to C:\. . .
\Microsoft\Templates and the Workgroup templates isn't set at all. I tried
reseting and saving the template setting on one document but that didn't
work. It appears to be something embedded in the files but I can't figure out
what.

Thanks

Yes, when you open a document it will try to find the template from which it
was created. Check under Tools, Templates and Add-ins to see what template
it is attach to and change it to something else if necessary.

Thank you. Just didn't know where to look. You've saved me thousands of
annoying popup clicks.
