Another Custom Field nightmare

B

Beth

I'm seeing a ton of Custom Field issues out there. Has anyone seen this one?

PS 2007

I created several Project-level dropdown list Custom Fields. When I created
some test projects, the Custom Field lists were displayed correctly in the
Project Information box. I published, created PWA views, and everything was
fine. (Except a bell indicator issue, which is another story).

Now, the Project Level dropdown lists in the Project Information box do not
show the correct lists, they show portions of the RBS instead. This happens
on both existing and new projects. If I select one of these RBS values from
my list and publish, the PWA view shows the CORRECT dropdown list value.

Ie, I select the RBS value "Project Manager" from the Risk Indicator Custom
Field and "Medium" shows up in PWA after I publish.

Any thoughts?
Thanks much-
Beth

ps - I've done all the usual tricks (modify and resave the field, F9 and
republish, open/close PP, etc, etc...)

Have you tried deleting the local cache on the machine where you are
seeing this issue? This seems to be a reliable temporary workaround.
Also, I believe this is fixed with SP1.

Hi Beth,

This is a known issue, especially if you have not installed SP1. Essentially
your local cash doesnt display the custom field values correctly in Project
Professional under Project Information.
here are the steps to resolve them:
- Open Project Pro
- go to tools > Local Project Cash > Cash Settings
- copy the Paht of the dialog window that appears
- Close Project Pro
- open your Windows Explorer ( not internet explorer)
- Past the path into your windows explorer
- Delete all folders within this path
- reopen Project Pro. Your custom field values should now display correctly
Hope this helps
