Another form of custom numbering

Hi...

Our company produces documents that follow the specific numbering format of:

1 Title
1.1
1.2
1.2.1
1.2.2
2 Title 2
2.1
2.2
2.2.1
2.2.2
2.2.2.1

and so on...

I've been using the different header styles for making the table of contents
and formatting control, but I can't figure out how to get that numbering
going automatically.

Since we shift document contents around a lot, doing it manually is a brutal
amount of work in a document with up to a hundred sub-sections...

Can anyone help me figure this one out?
