Another image quality to PDF issue...

One of the projects I have worked on recently, as well as others, have given
me problems with decreased image quality when converting to PDF for print.
Here are the details:

I've tried this with publisher 2003 SP2

using...

PDF995

and

PRIMOPDF

Both with the same results. Some of my logos on the publications are
becoming pixelated and very poor quality. They look fine in publisher, but
when converted to PDF become horrible and not suitable for print.

After reading around i have discovered the following:

1. I am selecting "print" version on primo, and PDF 995 doesnt seem to have
an option.
2. I have also tried increasing the resolution options in the printer
properties>advanced settings>graphics> print DPI (or something to that
extent).

So my question is, if I have done all of these things which usually fix
image quality issues and it is still not working, what other options are
there short of finding a printer who accepts publisher files?

Also..

Are certain image formats more likely to work on PUB>PDF convertions? I
believe the format of these images are either gif, jpeg, png, or bitmap.
There are a mixture of them and I am trying to figure out if its possible the
problem images could be a certain format.

Thanks in advance,

-Malcolm

if you are doing this stuff for professional commericial printing, I suggest
you install the generic ps printer...go to help menu in publisher...search ps
printer...click on install ps generic printer driver...then follow the
directions
