Another Outlook 2007 Crashing Continually Story....

I have virtually the same problem as others. I thought if I carefully noted
what I did and recanted it here, someone could solve my problem and that of
others.

After numerous crashes occurring everytime I have used the software after
installation, I too have had one crash after another. Yesterday, I did an
uninstall and reinstall for which I selected the "Upgrade" option. When
complete, I then activated Word, Publisher and Excel by clicking on them to
open. Then, when I tried to use OL following the activation of those
programs, OL "reconfigured" itself upon startup and gave me an error message
"OLMAP132.dll". Then, I went to Control Panel>Add/Remove> and ran "Repair".
Still couldn't get OL to open after that w/o crashing, sending message to MS
and then restarting. Then, I did a diagnostics check and found that [1] I
had another uninstall of Outlook and [2] some issues about Adobe [which I
can't understand because I had removed it from prior posts and responses
about this crashing]. By the way, I saved the log. So, I then did a disc
clean and ran my Trend Micro scandisk on "Program files" only. Then, I did
another uninstall and reinstall of OL and selected the "Custom" option and
then checked the box to keep the old software, with the exception of Outlook.
After that installation, I still found that when I clicked on my Contacts or
Tasks after opening OL, I went through the same crash, message to MS and
restart procedure---no matter how many times I did this, I had the same
crash, message, restart. At this point, I have not tried to activate Word,
Publisher and Excel again with the current install.

Now, what really gets me is that this software worked great for a couple of
weeks and then when it started crashing, it has been driving me nuts. Oh, by
the way, when it was working fine, I had no problems with Active Sync [V 4.2]
with my Motorola Q phone. Now, It won't sync at all. I get the message
"Cannot synchronize with the Outlook Profile you are using, because a
differant profile was previously setup or the profile is password protected.
Please open OL using the appropriate profile. Support code 8503001f." To the
best of my knowledge, I have carefully used the same profile all along and I
don't know how to check if its password protected.

I am a proficient user of these Microsoft products, but a not much of a
techie...so, if someone can help, please be patient with my learning the
measures you want me to follow...

ActiveSync: Have you tried reinstalling ActiveSync 4.2 already? If you
haven't, make sure to use the released version not the beta.

For all your other errors: When you run Outlook in safe mode (Start,
run, type "outlook.exe /safe"), do you still experience those crashes?

I will have to check on the ActiveSync. I think it is not Beta. Can I verify
that on "About"? For the other point, I have never been able to get it to run
in "Safe Mode". I can't remember what happens, but I know when I have made
that selection in the past it has never gone into that mode.

Can you just try safe mode again? Maybe it works now after you did all
this other stuff.

ActiveSync About says its "Version 4.2.0 [Build 4876]. I opened OL in safe
mode as you instructed and everything works. Now what?

I couldn't figure out which build the release version of ActiveSync is.
However, it was released on 7/5/2006. So if you installed it before that
date, you have the beta. Just to be sure, you can download the release
version from MS (google "ActiveSync 4.2" and the top choice is what you
want).

For your Outlook in general: Disable all add-ins except the VBA one.
Then start it normally and see if everything works fine. If it does, add
one add-in at a time back in and see which one causes the crashes. Once
you found the culprit, please let us know. That particular add-in is
then not compatible with Outlook 2007.

Thanks for all you are doing to help me. I first did an uninstall of the
ActiveSync on my machine, then did the ActiveSync download as you instructed,
connected to my phone and still no go. Same messages as before.

In OL, I have gone to Tools>Trust Center>Add-Ins and cannot figure out how
to disable them.

I have 7 in "Active Application Add-Ins" and 2 in "Inactive Application
Add-Ins". What to do? The following are the "Actives". Let me know if you
need the details on the inactives...

techie...so, if someone can help, please be patient with my learning the
measures you want me to follow...

I thought you had gotten rid of the Adobe add-in (#7 on your list of
active add-ins)? That is the cause for your constant crashes.
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Change Adobe Acrobat Pro 6,
and remove the Outlook and Office plugins.

I have virtually the same problem as others. I thought if I carefully noted
what I did and recanted it here, someone could solve my problem and that of
others.

After numerous crashes occurring everytime I have used the software after
installation, I too have had one crash after another. Yesterday, I did an

on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Adobe
Acrobot elements 6.0 disk and click ok." Well, I don't have the disk and have
no idea how Adobe got on my machine. Now what? Thanks again...

We're getting closer! I did as you said, but when I open Outlook and click on
either my Contacts or Tasks we go through the same crash, report, restart
sceneario. I rebooted the machine and that didn't help. When we get this
figured out, will it fix the ActiveSync problem?

Well, now I unchecked one box after another and closed Outlook and reopened
it after each such action. Each time, got the same problem...

We're getting closer! I did as you said, but when I open Outlook and click on
either my Contacts or Tasks we go through the same crash, report, restart
sceneario. I rebooted the machine and that didn't help. When we get this
figured out, will it fix the ActiveSync problem?

We still have a problem. When I try to remove Adobe as you instructed, I get
a "windows Installer" popup that says "The feature you are trying to use is
on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Adobe
Acrobot elements 6.0 disk and click ok." Well, I don't have the disk and have
no idea how Adobe got on my machine. Now what? Thanks again...

I thought you had gotten rid of the Adobe add-in (#7 on your list of
active add-ins)? That is the cause for your constant crashes.
Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Change Adobe Acrobat Pro 6,
and remove the Outlook and Office plugins.

ActiveSync on my machine, then did the ActiveSync download as you instructed,
connected to my phone and still no go. Same messages as before.

In OL, I have gone to Tools>Trust Center>Add-Ins and cannot figure out how
to disable them.

I couldn't figure out which build the release version of ActiveSync is.
However, it was released on 7/5/2006. So if you installed it before that
date, you have the beta. Just to be sure, you can download the release
version from MS (google "ActiveSync 4.2" and the top choice is what you
want).

For your Outlook in general: Disable all add-ins except the VBA one.
Then start it normally and see if everything works fine. If it does, add
one add-in at a time back in and see which one causes the crashes. Once
you found the culprit, please let us know. That particular add-in is
then not compatible with Outlook 2007.

I will have to check on the ActiveSync. I think it is not Beta. Can I verify
that on "About"? For the other point, I have never been able to get it to run
in "Safe Mode". I can't remember what happens, but I know when I have made
that selection in the past it has never gone into that mode.

what I did and recanted it here, someone could solve my problem and that of
others.

After numerous crashes occurring everytime I have used the software after
installation, I too have had one crash after another. Yesterday, I did an
uninstall and reinstall for which I selected the "Upgrade" option. When
complete, I then activated Word, Publisher and Excel by clicking on them to
open. Then, when I tried to use OL following the activation of those
programs, OL "reconfigured" itself upon startup and gave me an error message
"OLMAP132.dll". Then, I went to Control Panel>Add/Remove> and ran "Repair".
Still couldn't get OL to open after that w/o crashing, sending message to MS
and then restarting. Then, I did a diagnostics check and found that [1] I
had another uninstall of Outlook and [2] some issues about Adobe [which I
can't understand because I had removed it from prior posts and responses
about this crashing]. By the way, I saved the log. So, I then did a disc
clean and ran my Trend Micro scandisk on "Program files" only. Then, I did
another uninstall and reinstall of OL and selected the "Custom" option and

before attempting to click on Contacts and Tasks. Got same error. Are there
any ghost busters we can call?

I gave up. I uninstalled OL 2007. Then, I called Microsoft Office support
because I kept getting error messages on installing Office 2003. They sent
me to the "support.microsoft.com" website and had me enter 295823 in the
"Search Support KB" box. That brought up the "patch cannot be opened" error.
Clicking on that brought up a fix dated 7/27/06 by clicking on "msicuu2.exe".
I am back to the old system and am happy.
