Another Status Manager question

Dredman

One of the features I have been looking forward to with MOPS 2007 was the
ability to approve task time without needing the client on the user's
machine. First, am I misinformed? Second, if not, how can I change the Status
Manager on a project if the person I wish to assign doesn't have the client
on his or her machine?

Where I'm coming from is needing to have managers approve certain tasks
without actually using MS Project Pro. By the way, we are NOT using the "My
Timesheets" feature but, rather, "My Tasks" to enter time.

Dredman --

In the future, please post your Project Server 2007 questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is dedicated to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
you are misinformed. A user who is designated as a Timesheet Approver can
approve the time entered in Timesheets without needing Microsoft Project
Professional 2007 installed on his/her PC. He/she must be a project manager
to approve task updates, and ultimately must have Project Professional 2007
to take over as the Status Manager of a project created by someone else.
Thus, your requirements do not align with the features in the software.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale. I thought I HAD posted it in the right place. Disappointing
news. My boss will be displeased. Oh, well! By-the-by, it took me awhile to
get to this because I was having trouble logging it to the discussion group.

Regards,

Don
