anoyance with mouse

Using Excel 2000 when I make a click on a cell the
program thinks I left the button pressed, because it
starts selecting cells, and once it happends it can't be
stopped, so the only way to exit the program is closing
it with alt+ctr+del.

one idea: Try hittimg the F8 key. Maybe you have enabled 'extended'
(shown in the status bar)

I sometimes have the same problem and strange enough solve it by pressing
the mousewheel.
