Any best practice advise concerning team members entering info intoMy Tasks?

Does it matter if they write over the Remaining Work value before they
run out of hours? If I've added Forecast Finish date to the grid,
should they update the Finish date and let My Task recalc the
Remaining Hours, or enter Remaining Hours and let My Tasks recalc the
current Finish Date?

Should they enter their daily hours, select recalc, THEN observe
Remaining Hours and overlay if needed?

Any and all info concerning this would be appreciated.

Hi Andy,

In my book if they enter the actual hours they did for an assignment and
updated Remaining Work to what is left to do then that is the most accurate
and desired method. Remaining Work=0 is Assignment complete. it's simpler to
let Project update the finish date for you.

I agree with Rod, updating remaining time is the way to go. This method will
take into account calendar exceptions, resource max units etc, whereas
updating the finish date implies assumed resource availability.

My two cents worth i agree with Paul and Rod on the update method,
just wish to add this is very dependant on PROPER planning from the
PM's side as far as work is concerned
