Anybody having issues with IE v7 accessing PS Server 2003? I have a user who
can't get past server user/password dialog from Project professional 2003.

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the

accept.
Please try the following:
Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view
this directory or page.
Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials.

Nobody else in company is having this problem

IE7 is fully supported with PS 2003

Make sure PWA URL is in the trusted site zone.

Check that the "Access data sources across domains" security setting within
the trusted site zone is set to allow.

Not only does the PWA site need to be in the Trusted Sites zone, but the
security level must be set to Low. I've seen many installs of IE 7 where the
security level for trusted sites defaults to medium & that gives PS/PWA fits.
The setting about Access data across domains is under Miscellaneous when you
customize your security settings. I think setting security to Low sets the
Access across domains to enable.

I haven't had any trouble exporting grid to Excel, but Saving PivotTable to
GIF in Analyzer doesn't work in IE7

Ok thanks for that help, now the user gets the following error:

HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.

Another post with IE7 problems proposed:
"I found that in Internet Explorer's 'Internet Options' | Advanced (tab) |
under SECURITY settings, UNCHECKING the 'Enable Integrated Windows
Authentication' option fixed my issue."

I honestly don't know what other effects this setting change would have, but
it might be worth a shot.

We've had issues also with IE7 and Project Server. We just had a few folks
that their passwords changed, and now they can no longer get into Project Pro
2003 logging into the server. They receive a 401.2 error also. No problems
before their password changed. Have done all the above fixes including
deleting old password out of IE and still doesn't work. I do not want to
delete their profiles from the machines. There must be something more too
with either project pro storing cached passwords or something.

Question though, does anyone else having these problems also have cached
credentials turned on could this be an issue of some sort. That would
explain when people say it is only fixed when they delete the profile. But
what?

I don't think that's unique to IE7--we've run into it occationally with IE6.
Never found a way around it besides deleting the Windows profile. If/when you
do it, be sure to delete it under System Properties & User Profiles, rather
than just deleting the files in Explorer--ostensibly that also cleans out the
registry.

Do you have a domain policy on with cached credentials? Did you also notice
it is broken for anyone logging onto that computer?

A

I doubt we have a domain policy on the cached credentials. If I remember
correctly, someone else could logon & get to PWA.

We can get into PWA, but it now prompts for the domain/id password, then lets
you in. Just can't connect through Project Server 2003.

Have you verified that the security for trusted sites is set to low? We have
seen were it gets set back to medium after being set to low.

S

SkyEyes

The trusted sites were initially at medium and I did set to low. I've
noticed I need to set it a few times before it keeps the settings. This is
only changed after all browser windows except one is closed. It just seems
like settings aren't always staying.
