Any new solutions for 10.1.6 update problems - besides reinstall to 10.1.5 ?

Everyone here runs Office X/Mac OS 10.3.6 and had (at least) the PowerPoint
file-opening problems (PowerPoint cannot read..., etc.)

Anything new - besides the solution of going back down to 10.1.5. It's been
a couple of weeks.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using 10.3.6 with PowerPoint and am not experiencing file opening
troubles with PowerPoint. What happens exactly when you try to open files?

Have you done any troubleshooting, such as running Disk Utility to repair
permissions or running DiskWarrior to repair your operating system?

Hi Jim,

After all the complaints I just downgraded every Mac at work to 10.1.5.
I checked back here because it unexpectedly hit me at home. Today, I
couldn't open a 3 month old file - getting the same error message.
Turns out my wife had applied the 10.1.6 update to Office v. X on our
OS 10.2.8 G4.

Doesn't seem system or permissions specific. If you "insert slides
from file" you do see the preview, but once you hit the "open" button -
same problem. Just don't have the time to try to figure out what
these files have in common that disagrees with PPT 10.1.6. I'm
wondering if they've all passed through Office on a PC, or Office 2001,
or both - which is very possible around here.

Doesn't seem if any of the other threads in microsoft.public.mac.office
or microsoft.public.mac.office.powerpoint have been updated, so thanks
for taking a look.

Be sure you are downloading the combo update for your os updates...your
automatic software update might not get you everything you need.
