Charlie can't get it done.

I have XP for HOME. I bought Office 2003. I cannot find a MS download for
Japanese IME. It is supposed to be on the Windows, but the folders appear
nearly empty. Any down load tries to install, then say it can not find
OFFICE XP. If I try the Windows 32 Japanese IME, the Install stops and
reports it cannot work on this system.

Any solutions: I have tried the greggman.com process (which is many more
times clearer than the MS instructions, but no joy.

The Language Bar never appears, no matter what I do.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Charlie,

You may want to also check with the folks in the
Word International Features newsgroup (link below)
for additional help on this issue. The folks who
work on the Office and Windows International tools
are there more frequently than here.

The update for Office 2003's IME framework was to
improve Windows 2000 installations rather than Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;870774&FR=1

The 3rd party reference you mentioned has pictures of enabling
the Japanese language tools
http://greggman.com/japan/xp-ime/xp-ime.htm
but it's basically the same process as the MS article.
