Any version of Word with Display PostScript

I've been told that some later versions of Windows Word contain Display
PostScript, which, translated, means that Word can display an EPS file
without the file needing a preview.

Is that true? And if so, does it also require (for example) XP?

Hi Tim,

On the Windows versions of Word, Microsoft changed to GDI+
starting with Word 2002. EPS graphics in Word 2002 and
Word 2003 render the EPS rather than the preview.
No specific version of Windows is needed.

Microsoft contracted some company to write a PostScript interpreter,
and they delivered a Level 2 interpreter that has been included in
newer Word versions. Which versions exactly seems somewhat of a
mystery, but Bob gave you a couple. If you have it, then importing EPS
files is supposed to give you the actual PostScript drawing on screen,
rather than a preview. Judging from the things people say here and
elsewhere, it's not a very robust solution.

Our graphics conversionn software has helped Word users overcome the
lack of native PostScript support since 1995. And PDF, since a couple
of years.

My latest Word is 2000, but I'll make sure to try this out when I can. Odd
thing, however: Word 2004 for Macintosh doesn't display EPS without an
embedded preview. Seems odd that with so much underlying PostScript support
in OSX that it would not do this.
