Any way to stop word from automatically converting word document to html?

I can run winword and open f:\test.doc and then file->saveas (all types are
available)

If I run winword and open the same document
http://whatever.com/foobar/test.doc

Word converts the document from .doc to .html and file->saveas (only html
types are available)

Any way to stop word from doing this?

Go to Tools-Options, Save tab. What is the default save type? If it's HTML,
change it. If it's NOT, then it sounds like your Word install might be
hosed. Go do Word Troubleshooting at www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm
