It is tough.
I'm from Australia, and whenever I search jobs for dbs, I
see lots of Oralce 9i, SQL Servers, DB2, My SQL types of
db jobs. Mainly scaleable systems. However when I search
for Access type jobs, they are far and few between, and
when I do see an opportunity, I find the skills required
from Access need to be blended with other skills such as
Excel, and with accounting programs such as MYOB and
Quickbooks.
In other words the market is looking for people who can do
more that one thing on the job. Where Access skills are
required, it is usually along with other skills as well.
Try developing expertise in the scaleable dbs such as
Oracle and SQL Server.
