I don't know if today's version of OO will not install on W98. When I used W98 OO
sure installed at that time.(95)

It doesn't list 98 as a System requirement - Win 2000 is the earliest
version listed.
It /may/ install, I suppose 'cos it's free there's no harm in trying!

The ad says "This is genuine Microsoft Office 1997 Professional software
that I purchased, new, with a computer. " Makes me believe it may have been
OEM. Now, granted OEM of Office 97 doesn't activate on the internet like
later Office versions but I would think the EULA would be similar. If OEM
the license technically dies with the first computer it is installed on. If
retail the license is perpetual.

But this says "Used".. Therefore, not legal to transfer license if OEM.

well, it is an old
version and doesn't
have the activation
feature that microsoft
initiated to circumvent
piracy.

in otherwords, you can
install the old program
on millions of computers
because it doesn't have
the activation feature.
