You expect a detailed response from such an undetailed query? Better
than WHAT? Okay, here goes (the answers are as vague as your question):

- Use backup software. Then you'll be safe for both the data files for
e-mails along with data files for all your other apps, too.
- Copy the PST file to somewhere else.
- Use the PFB (Personal Folders Backup) add-on from Microsoft (it's
free).
- Learn to use the Export function in Outlook.

The OP never bothered to mention WHICH version of Outlook they were
using. It was indeed a vague query. I picked some possible solutions
that will work on all versions of Outlook (although I didn't check on
which version the PFB add-on will work).
