Anyone haviong problems with Word not working after SP2 install?

I just installed SP2 for Office 2003 and now I am having a problem with
opening old word documents but not all of the old docs. I haven't been able
to determine what the common denominator is but is locks up then wants to go
into safe mode and tries to open the doc. It still has a problem and wants to
send an error report. I have tried the repair function through Add/Remove
programs and that did nothing to fix the problem. I really don't want to have
to try to reinstall Office 2003. Is anyone else having this problem or does
anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi Dick,

If you start Word in Office safe mode (hold ctrl key while
starting Word do you get the same error)?

Check in Help=>About in Word to see if there are any disabled items
and use Start=>Search to delete all files found with the search string
~*.*;*.tmp
before starting Word.

Bob, thank you very much for the quick reply but I got frustrated enough that
I had our PC group load a new image on my machine. Th enew image came with XP
Sp2 so I gained something in the process besides just having Word working
again :)
