Anyone use OneNote 2007 with SharePoint ?

I was wondering if Anyone is using OneNote 2007 with SharePoint 2007 ?

I would like to know if OneNote "Text" and "Ink" is well indexed and
searchable within SharePoint.
I suspect it is "supposed to be" but is it ? Is it reliable ?

SharePoint is just the storage medium. OneNote will cache a notebook
that is stored on a SharePoint Server in the same way that it caches a
notebook stored on a network drive. As all operations within OneNote
always work off the cache only, there is no difference as to what you
can do inside OneNote with a notebook on a SharePoint Site (of course
there are some special SharePoint only features). It's as reliable as
searching would be on any other notebook.
The real difference is in syncing the notebook, where it syncs less
frequently than with other mediums (you can adjust the time delay
though). I played with OneNote and SharePoint in B2TR, and there were
issues with SharePoint syncing then (mainly its reliability). I haven't
had the chance to try it in the RTM version, so I can't say how reliable
it is now. From what I understand, SharePoint Server changed drastically
between B2TR and RTM.

Patrick,
We (you and I) do need to test this on SharePoint RTM, but the changes that
were made won't affect what we were testing.

As for the original question, I wouldn't count on SharePoint being able to
index your notes. I (so far) haven't been able to do it. Granted, I haven't
played in a while, but.... I still wouldn't count on it.

I will also warn you that you may see some refresh problems with notes
stored on MOSS/SharePoint and then shared live. It can be.... umm... ugly ..
yeah - that's close to what I want :)

I am talking offline with Kathy about this. To clarify what we both
meant:
Indexing and searching of notes stored on a SharePoint Site from within
OneNote works fine (what I said).
Indexing and searching of notes stored on a SharePoint Site from within
SharePoint doesn't really work (Kathy's point).

There is an ifilter for OneNote files, and after ON has parsed the Ink
content on a Tablet PC, it seems to store the text inside the Section
file, so it seems as if you should be able to search already-converted-
Ink for text. Olya's blog has some information...

Erik is correct - it is possible to get notes stored on SharePoint to be
indexed and searched by SharePoint - but this requires some special
configuration of the server. More details on Olya's blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/olya_veselova/archive/2006/09/25/770917.aspx

Ink will be searchable after a client with the Tablet PC version of
Windows views the page, triggering handwriting recognition, and uploads
the section with the recognized results back to SharePoint.
