Anyone using a BCM database from and SD Card?

I have a need to use outlook on both a desktop and laptop. Up until now it
has been easy, all my PSTs are stored on a 2GB SD card and I simply move it
back an forth depending on which machine I want to use. Can I do the same
thing with the BCM database?

Thanks!

The BCM database will be in a file in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager

Technically you should be able to close Outlook, stop sql on your
desktop, move the database to your laptop, start sql on the laptop,
start Outlook, and BCM should work, as long as the email profiles on
both machines are pointing to the BCM database.

If you try it, let us know.

We have Sql server 2005 in my office. What are the steps that would need to
be done for the databas to be moved there so that the clients dont have to
run sql?

Runnin sql on the pc with other users connected is extreamley taxing to the
pc. I have 2 gb of ram with a dual core proceesor and I'm constantly having
to reboot.

Need to get the database off my PC and I DONT WANT TO RUN SQL on the pc.

Can you email a list of steps?

Moving the BCM database to Sql is complicated and the steps depend on
the particular configuration in your office.

The matter has been discussed extensively in this newsgroup. Depending
on how comfortable you are configuring sql server you can use the
previous posts to guide you, or hire a specialist to do it for you.

You will have to have sql on your laptop if you want to use BCM on the
laptop when it is not connected to your office LAN.

Luther,

Can you point me to the best poting to direct my it staff.

We have moved the database to the server but for some reason, the BCM module
cannot see the database on the SQL server. All permissions seem to be
correct because we CAN view the database through windows.
