AOL users not getting the picture

B

Bernd

I am writing a web site for a photo club using Publisher
97. In the beginning people on AOL complained that they
could not see the pictures, only a square. I have
contacted this group and I was told that I need to
download service pack 1 and 2, which I did. It worked,
they all now get the pictures. Now I purchased and used
Publisher 2003 and now I got the same problem again. I
still have service pack 1 and 2 on my computer and I
downloaded service pack 3 also, but no results. AOL
people can still not get the pictures. What to do? I have
gone back to Publisher 97 but I also posted the same web
site in the publisher 2003 version for viewing.

The below is from the help in Publisher. Maybe your problem... I can see your web
site and the pictures, I have to believe this is an AOL thing.

To speed up the downloading time for graphics on your Web site, select Rely on VML
for faster graphics downloading on the Web tab (Options command, Tools menu.) If you
select this option, people who view your Web site in a browser (browser: Software
that interprets HTML files, formats them into Web pages, and displays them. A Web
browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, can follow hyperlinks, transfer files,
and play sound or video files that are embedded in Web pages.) that does not
recognize graphics in Vector Markup Language (VML) (Vector Markup Language (VML): A
system of marking up, or tagging, two-dimensional vector graphics for publishing on
the World Wide Web. VML graphics are scalable and editable, usually take less time to
download, and require less disk space.) format (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer
4.0 or earlier) will not see any graphics.
