Apache server upgrade created issues

My hosting service upgraded their server from Apache 1.2 to Apache 2. Now
all my webpages made with MS Publisher 2003 have been affected.

EG: where ever I have a space in my text it now show a "box" - when I use
bullets the pages show "?" and where ever I use a quotation mark I now see a
"box"

An example of these errors can be seen at www.minklakecottage.com

Any thoughts - thanks

Wanna see something even worse?
Open your site in FireFox!
Looks like you're framed by your host.

Then you have your charset as UTF-8 and they (who are framing or sub
domaining you) have theirs set as windows-1252 ... this may be the
problem...but it's minor compared to what your viewers will see in Firefox.

Rob - thanks - I have changed within the MS Pub program under OPTION > WEB
the encoding to UFT-8, and reloaded the pages and the site appears fine in IE
now. I do use a URL stealth forwarding company for my webpages. Not real
sure what you mean by the "windows-1252" comment ... is this something I have
control over or do I need the URL forwarding company to make this change.

Again - thanks for the response - this is a new information for me... that
was why I used the MS Pub program for website building - great for novice web
builders.

Actually I wasn't seeing your problem in IE7, but sounded like a charset
problem. If it's working for you now I wouldn't mess with it.

Why are you stealthing (or whatever you wanna call it) ?
Did you look at your url from Firefox?

And besides...create a shortcut to your website on your desk top, then click
on it and you'll see;
http://www.cswebsites.com/clients/minklakecottage/index.html

Also.. they have you listed as Mike Lake on their client list :)

Everything seems to be working in IE.. (I have IE7)

I use stealth forwarding - all that it does is keeps the url in the address
bar from not changing and it "hides" the long url (eg:
www.minklakecottage.com actually is
www.cswebsites.com/clients/minklakecottage/index.html)

I don't use Firefox - don't even have it on my machine.

One more thing ... who are "they" you refer to that has me down as Mike
Lake? Just curious.

Really do appreciate the help with this issue... and the great response time!!

Thanks -

Am I seeing the same site? All I get in Mozilla is this text:

Accommodation

· 2 Bedrooms (accommodates 6-7)
· Full Kitchen
· All Linens Included
· Fireplace
· Fire pit
· Bar B Que
· TV/VCR
· No Smoking - No Pets
Activities
· Canoeing (provided)
· Paddle Boating (provided)
· Boat Launching (300m)
· Swimming
· Fishing
· Hunting
· ATV’s and Sleds Welcome

in a purple, perhaps Comic Sans font. The text takes up maybe 1500
pixels (vertical) but the page must be about 150,000 pixels high.

If no one minds, I'll attach a screenshot (usually a no-no in NGs).

I am guessing that "they" is you. I am guessing that your website is
http://www.cswebsites.com/ (which is also built with Publisher) and that
you are selling "websites" to the owners of Mink Lake Cottage, and the other
Clients you have listed. Correct?

Something more than one third of the world uses Firefox and your site is
quite useless in FF so it would be a good idea to have it on your
machine and check your output.

There are definitions of Windows-1252 and UTF-8 in Wikipedia and just
how that affects your pages I will leave to you to research or someone
more knowledgable than I to tell you.

Thats the Firefox "version".

Yepper - you are correct... thanks for the heads up - that has only been
like that for a little a year - and no one noticed it... including me! LOL!!
Thank you!
