App Crash

Word 2007 has started crashing lately. It also no longer allows me to open
..doc attachments from Outlook and I cannot use my mouse to navigate though
word (can't highlight, move around, etc.) The only way I can open documents
is to go to file/open, then use the arrows to move through the document.

I ran the diagnostics and it idid not find anything. There is an error
message that pops up, but I have not yet copied it down something about
appcrash . . . Will work on copying the error message. No clue what to do.
Never had an error with Word before

This may be an old bug with wwlib.dll, but I would be very surprised at this
stage. Have you installed all Windows and Office updates?

This is often the Word Data key corrupt in the registry. You should close
Word, run Regedit and navigate to the DATA key. Whilst Data is selected,
press Delete.

Word creates a new key when it is restarted.

According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942389, several errors
involving http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942389 were fixed by SP1, and it
appears from the version number that perhaps you have not applied that?

Also, another relevant thread suggests that rebuilding the Word Data key
solves the problem; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions on
locating and renaming that key. That is almost certainly the cause of the
mouse problems.

Brilliance! Problem solved for opening docs and using the mouse - used the
Word Data key rebuild. Am hoping this solves the crash issue as well. If I
will try SP1.

Thanks much!

I have been having some of the same problems with word 2007 not responding.
Now I get an immediate error message 429 - Active X cannot create an object.
I cannot use word. As far as I know the mouse works okay. I am up to date on
updates and have tried the clearing of the data and the normal.dotx action. I
tried to repair the program by running the cd again. The error message says
something about a .dll file problem.
